Indianapolis metropolitan area



The Indianapolis metropolitan area, Metro Indianapolis, or Greater Indianapolis, is the metropolitan area of Central Indiana that centers on Indianapolis, Indiana, United States and its surrounding area.
The Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is the metropolitan statistical area designated by the Office of Management and Budget and used by the United States Census Bureau for various statistical purposes. It includes the following counties: Marion, Boone, Brown, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Morgan, Putnam, and Shelby.〔https://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/bulletins/2013/b-13-01.pdf〕 The Indianapolis metropolitan area is the 33rd most populous metropolitan area in the United States. The Indianapolis metropolitan area is part of the Great Lakes Megalopolis, which contains an estimated 54 million people.
